Description

ATTRIBUTES

This wine is pale salmon in colour with a vibrant hue.  The aromas jump out the glass with fresh raspberries and musk. The palate is fresh and crisp and packed with flavour with a lovely long dry finish.

WINEMAKING

The 2023 Rose is made of our young shiraz vines, which are only in their second season of fruit production. The fruit was machine picked early in the morning in early March 2023. The fruit was crushed and destemmed through our tube in tube chiller to cool the fruit down to 8 degrees C, into our tank press. It was left on skins and gently rotated for 8 hours to extract just enough flavour and colour without extracting tannins and phenolics from the skins and seeds, before being pressed into a stainless steel tank to cool down to 5 degrees C and allowed to settle for 10 days. It was then racked off gross solids, warmed and fermentation was commenced with a neutral dry yeast. Post fermentation the Rose was stabilised, filtered and bottled in May 2023.

VINEYARDS

Situated on the Teakle property in Port Lincoln, 2 kilometres from the foreshore, with 150 meters elevation. The soils are a rich combination of sandy loam topsoil overlying a friable red-brown clay loam subsoil. The moderately warm summer temperatures and maritime breeze allow perfect ripening conditions in the vineyard. The long sunshine hour days encourage even ripening of the grapes, while the gentle breeze helps cool the bunches, retaining the beautiful natural acidity.
